So to recap. The banks screw homeowners over by giving out cheap risky loans that jack up the housing price. Then once the bubble burst they screw over homeowners who can't make their payments and repo their houses. Then george bush in his wisdom refuses to do anything to help the homeowners out for whatever reason that disagrees with their republican doctrine, instead giving everybody 800 dollars which is not at all focused on the problem but is ok because fits into their philosphy of not taxing. Then when the bankers get into trouble they bail them out. Why not just bail out the homeowner so all these real estate holdings don't become worthless. Instead they give the home owners tax money to the banks to bail them out of trouble. And how much money are we talking about?? Close to a trillion dollars. Good lord. I feel violated.

My idea for a new obama fundraiser is that everytime John Mcain or one of his leutenants harp on a particularly false story like Sara Palin was against earmarks or an obvious lie like Obama is being sexist by saying lipstick on a pig, we then set up a fund where in we donate a dollar for everytime we hear that lie repeated on a news show and then tabulate the total as the Earmarks fund or the lipstick fund and see how much we can help Obama. It could help blunt the GOP's attacks and raise the issue of their decieptfullness.  

Its only a dollar because the GOP would make us all broke if it were any more.

The article details how mccain camp under the guidance of Rove protege Steve Schmidt have managed the media to create the exciting image of the trailblazing "maverick" politician she is becoming today. First they waited till the media had their frenzy over Mccains pick without saying much concerning until they had their fill and then they brow beat them into submission by bringing up sexism and shaming the media into going along with their narative. Then came the rebirth of sara palin. Now instead of it being a little wierd that this mother who is a strong supporter of abstinance only education now has a 17 year old daughter who is now pregnant, it is admirable she is going to marry the boy and by the way.... Yay they didn't have an abortion.  Furthermore she is a maverick she opposed the bridge to nowhere. And no matter how much evidence there is to the contrary Steve Schmidt will beat it into our heads that Palin is a Maverick and that she opposed the bridge to nowhere.

This as we're familiar is the playbook of Karl Rove. Their motto is to "create your own reality." The idea behind this is they take their mantra and they just repeat it a gazillion times. Now what happens is that the liberals are jumping from one sara palin conspiracy to the next but in the end that all becomes background noise. All that we really hear is that Sara Palin is a maverick and she opposed the Bridge to Nowhere. And eventually the public cries uncle.

How many times have we seen this before in previous elections. George Bush is a compassionate conservative. Well no he had a gazillion trillion people executed as the Texas Governor... George Bush is a Compasionate Conservative. But he cut back on welfare programs.... George Bush is a Compassionate Conservative. And on and on it goes. They use the same strategy on offense as well as on defense. Hence a war hero like john kerry somehow gets turned into a traitor.

As far as I can tell the only way to fight it is to stand up to them everytime they say it and never give up. Everytime they say "Sara Palin is a maverick she opposed the bridge to nowhere" we have to come back with she was for it before she was against it.  It's childish and moronic but persistance pays. As soon as we stop challengin there lies they win.

It's amazing that the most devout and loyal followers of Hillary Clinton are doing the most to undermine her status within the party. They don't understand basic responsibility. Hillary however understands. Don't think for a second she wanted to support Barack. She scrapped with him till the bitter end rarely conceding an inch. But once she lost she has campaigned for obama and personally asked her supporters to do the same. Why?? Because maybe she understand that it's in the best interest of the party to do so but she definately understands that it's in the best interest of Hillary Clinton to do so. Something her supporters just don't get.

I remember after she asked her supporters for the first time to get behind the Obama campaign alegre posted on here saying she couldn't do it because she saw that Clinton's heart wasn't in it. Well duh.... We all could tell her heart wasn't in it. She did everything she could to get the nomination. But regardless of what she wanted she bit the bullet and threw her support behind the nominee. Why?? Because it was in her self interest to do so. If she opposed Obama she would lose her standing in the party and minimize everything her and her husband have done for this party. So in essence her most avid supporters are her worst enemies. Because in the name of Hillary they are marginalizing her.

I know there are many who feel raw about the primaries but realize what they have to do and what the options are. Well i'm not writing this for them. They realized what Hillary has realized; you have to be an adult. Rather i'm writing this to the ones who incessantly call us Obamabots or Obamamaniacs and accuse us of being unthinking zombies but then will never carry on a reasoned conversation. The ones who say they are going to vote for Mcain without saying being able to give a coherent explanation as to how he supports the issues that Hillary stands for. To them I say get a grip! Stop undermining Hillary!!

I have been hearing a lot in this blog, in the news and other places that this was a very sexist election campaign. But I have not seen many anecdotes that prove the point. Now i understand that as an avid Obama supporter I got offended by news stories that attacked him but not ones that attacked her, so my perception might just be a wee bit colored. So now that the smoke has cleared and we're not aggressively attacking members who aren't in our own camp I was wondering if we could discuss this in an honest and constructive way. So I would like to know why the campaign was so sexist. I would also like to know in which ways do you feel the obama campaign or the candidate himself were responsible and in which ways the main stream media was responsible.

Now my understanding of election cycles is that each election year there are about a few negative stories that are started each year that the news outlets bring out all their pundits and talking heads to lust over whether this story will be enough to sabotage any given candidate. In this election there were two big exposés if you will about Obama, Jeremiah Wright and his use of the word bitter (I refuse to conform to the practice of adding gate to every scandal). While Hillary had the Bosnia landing and Bill Clinton's Jesse Jackson remark in regards to South Carolina. The Wright story (which was just hammered relentlessly into the ground) and Bill Clinton's remarks both had racial undertones. However the other two stories didn't seem to involve either sexism or racism but were just your average election gotcha moments. So feel free to tell me what i'm missing.

Now as i stated earlier I have a tendency (as I assume most do) to watch or read the stories I agree with and just get mad at the TV or internet for the stories I didn't. I also can't denie that sometimes sexism or racism are expressed more subtly so I could be missing alot of where this anger originates. But it is also a bit more difficult to prove this type of sexism or racism.
